UNICEF's local health reporting model attracts interest in Azerbaijan

UNICEF's model for localized health reporting is generating interest in Azerbaijan, Yves Jacques, the Chief of UNICEF's Frontier Data & Technology Unit, said at the 3rd International Statistics Forum in Baku, Report informs.

He explained that the model aims to produce monthly operational reports for each district using existing administrative health data.

"Although it requires generating thousands of monthly reports, statistical accuracy and local context are maintained. The system relies solely on existing administrative data - no external sources are added, and artificial intelligence is only used to process the reporting outcomes. This approach minimizes the risk of data distortion and enables the production of thousands of community-level reports each month," Jacques said.

Each report clearly outlines 4–5 priority actions for local health workers for the following month, making it a practical planning tool.

According to Jacques, this model could be a valuable approach for Azerbaijan in managing district-level health data and planning community health services. He added that cooperation between Azerbaijani government institutions and UNICEF in this area could support more responsive and accurate health policy decisions.
