The success rate of Asian Development Bank (ADB) projects in Azerbaijan has increased from 60% in 2018-2020 to 63% in 2019-2021, Report mentions, referring to ADB.
The overall success rate of the bank's projects in Central and West Asia in 2019-2021 remained at 66%.
The indicators of the main countries in the region, including Azerbaijan, Pakistan (from 58% in 2018-2020 to 64% in 2019-2021), Kazakhstan (from 67% to 75%), and Uzbekistan (70% - from 78%) have improved. The ADB's total portfolio of these countries accounts for about two-thirds of its sovereign operations.
In general, the success of the country's programs decreased from 86% in 2016-2018 to 68% in 2019-2021. The main reason for this is the decline in the effectiveness and sustainability of the country's programs.
These two elements are particularly evident in Cambodia, the Pacific, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea (PNG), and East Timor. The decline in efficiency was mainly due to shortcomings in achieving the goals, especially in the absence of institutional reforms in the sectors that dominate the country's programs.
