OECD: SDG financing has declined by 25% over the past three years

Financing for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has fallen by 25% over the past three years, Haje Schütte, representative of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said at an event held as part of the 51st Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku.

"The reduction has been particularly severe for the least developed countries, small island developing states, and countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The healthcare sector is also a cause for concern," Schütte said.

According to him, the overall decline in financing is largely attributable to seven countries, while around half of OECD member states continue to increase their development funding.

"This underscores the importance of closer cooperation at the current stage. We work closely with other countries, including Azerbaijan, which is expanding its development finance capabilities. This approach deserves recognition," he added.
