CBA: Number of contactless payment cards close to 5M

The introduction of payment for travel by bank cards on the Baku-Sumgait trains is being implemented within the State Program for the Expansion of Digital Payments in Azerbaijan, Executive Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Farid Osmanov said, Report informs.

“As part of this State Program, we have achieved significant growth in contactless payments in the country. With the implementation of the program in Azerbaijan, the number of payment cards grew by 44 percent to 10.1 million, while the number of contactless payment cards increased 5.5 times to 4.6 million,” he said.

On the Absheron district railway line, it will also be possible to make payments using social (pension) cards, he noted.
