Cashless payments in Azerbaijan down 2.2% in April

In April 2026, the volume of cashless payments in Azerbaijan totaled 9.094 billion manats (almost $5.35 billion), marking a 2.2% decline year-on-year, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
The majority of transactions were carried out in e-commerce – 7.969 billion manats (approximately $4.69 billion), which is 87.6% of the total volume. Payments through POS terminals amounted to 1.123 billion manats (approximately $660.6 million), while self-service terminals accounted for 2.5 million manats (just over $1.47 million).
Since the beginning of the year, domestic cashless transactions with payment cards have made up 69.9% of all card operations.
As of May 1, the number of payment cards in the country reached 22.518 million, an 8.9% annual increase. Of these, debit cards rose by 11.35% to 20.473 million, while credit cards declined by 10.6% to 2.045 million.
The number of ATMs increased to 3,586 (+5.6%), and POS terminals to 160,225 (+23.7%).
