Azerbaijan exempts certain electric buses from import duties until 2027

The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has amended its April 22, 1998 decision titled "On Customs Duty Rates for Export-Import Operations in the Republic of Azerbaijan."

According to Report, Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a new decision in this regard.

Under the updated regulation, industrial park residents who import seatless, handleless, and monitor-free buses powered solely by electric motors for industrial production (assembly) purposes will be exempt from import customs duties, provided they obtain a confirmation document from the Ministry of Economy.

Additionally, the Cabinet has revised the "Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and the applicable customs duty rates. As a result, a 15% import duty will now apply to electric buses that are seatless, handleless, and lack monitors - unless exempted under the new provision.

This decision takes effect from August 1, 2025, and will remain valid until January 1, 2027.
