Ziba Mustafayeva: SOCAR transforming with AI, innovation

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is undergoing transformation into a data‑driven, AI‑based, integrated, and diversified energy company, SOCAR Vice President Ziba Mustafayeva said, according to Report.

Speaking at the opening of the 20th Baku Summer Energy School, organized by ADA University's Institute for Development and Diplomacy, Mustafayeva noted that while SOCAR continues its traditional oil and gas operations – production, transportation, refining, and trading – it is also expanding its portfolio toward energy transition and green energy:

"Our green operations division has been cooperating with regulators for several years in solar and wind energy. We are now considering regional expansion opportunities, which means we have gained experience and are exploring other components of green energy beyond solar and wind," she stated.

She emphasized that SOCAR, as a state company, aligns with Azerbaijan's sustainable development strategy, industrial policies, and economic strategies shaped by the Azerbaijani President: "We adapt our strategy responsibly to ongoing changes."

Mustafayeva highlighted SOCAR's recognition at the World Economic Forum in Dallas this year, where its Carbamide Plant won the Lighthouse award for AI‑driven digital solutions and automation. She also pointed to SOCAR's takeover of BTC pipeline operations from BP as proof of Azerbaijan's capacity to manage large‑scale infrastructure: "This experience can be shared not only nationally but also internationally, as BTC is a multi‑country project."
