Türkiye and Azerbaijan are preparing to jointly develop a hydrogen-powered aerial vehicle, according to Professor Can Ozgur Colpan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Dokuz Eylul University in Türkiye, Report informs.
Speaking to Report, Professor Colpan said that the project is being initiated under a bilateral cooperation framework between the Azerbaijan Science Foundation (AEF) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TUBİTAK).
"This initiative aims to demonstrate the application of hydrogen in the aviation sector and to develop an eco-friendly, innovative prototype," he stated.
Praising Azerbaijan's progress in the field of clean energy, Colpan emphasized that hydrogen energy plays a key role in future energy systems due to its environmentally friendly nature, high energy density, and efficient storage capabilities.
"With rising global energy demand, the depletion of fossil fuel resources, and the need to combat climate change, hydrogen is gaining importance as a clean energy carrier. That"s why we are conducting extensive research on green hydrogen production and storage, fuel cells, and transportation applications," he added.
