STAR Refinery increases crude oil imports by over 5%

STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 1,030,335 tons of crude oil in June 2023 (21.35% of total crude oil imports), up 52,682 tons, or 5.4%, from the previous year, Report informs referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

In June 2023, the refineries in Türkiye imported 3,088,314 tons of crude oil, 81,283 tons, or 2.56%, less than a year earlier.

STAR was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.
The plant can process 10 million tons of crude oil per year. It is possible to process Urals, Azeri Light and Kirkuk types of oil at the enterprise. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
