Georgia raises electricity imports from Azerbaijan

In January-September this year, Georgia imported 505.5 million kWh of electricity (12.3% more than the previous year) from Azerbaijan, said the Georgian Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO), Report informs.

During the reporting period, Georgia supplied a total of 1,716,100,000 kWh of electricity, of which 29.46% was met by Azerbaijan.

In the first nine months, Russia (1,049,400,000 kWh) was the leading electricity supplier to the neighboring country.

The volume of electricity from Azerbaijan to Turkey through Georgia amounted to 203.1 million kWh. This is twice as much as last year.

Electricity is currently exchanged between Azerbaijan and Georgia via the 500 kW Samukh-Gardabani and 330 kW Agstafa-Gardabani transmission lines.
