Expert: Azerbaijan should be ready for reforms in renewable energy market

The Azerbaijani government should be prepared to implement reforms in the renewable energy market, said Parviz Garibzada, Expert for the International Energy Agency's (IEA) EU4Energy program for Azerbaijan, Report informs.

He made the remark during the event titled Green Energy Week 2025: Azerbaijan and Central Asia, held in Baku.

The expert noted that significant progress has been made in developing Azerbaijan's renewable energy sector in recent years: "However, reforms in the renewable energy market are still needed. We must improve certain measures in this direction. It's true that companies engaged in renewable energy can sell resources directly to consumers. I believe the government should encourage this process and be ready for market reforms."

Garibzada also highlighted another key issue: mechanisms to support the use of renewable energy. "In my view, providing cheaper loans (low-interest loans) to companies operating in this sector will be crucial. Consumers, including individuals and small to medium-sized enterprises, must have access to such financing," he emphasized.
