Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli: BP to expand co-op with Azerbaijan

BP looks forward to expanding its cooperation with Azerbaijan on projects in the country, BP Vice President for the Caspian Region Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli said during the First Azerbaijan-UK Policy Dialogue at ADA University, Report informs.

"The UK was one of the first Western countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence. On March 11, 1992, the UK and Azerbaijan established diplomatic relations. Since then, the partnership between the two countries has only grown and strengthened," he noted.

According to him, the UK is one of Azerbaijan's closest partners in investment, economic growth, and knowledge sharing: "Today's dialogue demonstrates the two countries' commitment to deepening cooperation and strengthening mutual understanding."

Aslanbayli emphasized that BP, with the support of the Azerbaijani government, has implemented large-scale, world-class energy projects.

He said that these projects have not only transformed the energy landscape of the Caspian region but also made a significant contribution to energy security for neighboring countries and a number of European states.

"We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation. We are proud that BP in Azerbaijan has signed a number of important agreements aimed at supporting the country's energy transition efforts. One of the key achievements was the final investment decision on the Shafag solar power plant project. We are particularly proud that the project will be implemented in the liberated territories, in the Jabrayil district, which represents a unique site from both a commercial and engineering perspective. The plant's capacity will be 240 MW," he added.
