Azerbaijan plans to launch 8 renewable energy power plants by 2027

Eight solar and wind power plants are planned to be commissioned in Azerbaijan by 2027 (excluding projects in Nakhchivan), Rana Humbatova, deputy director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), said at the Azerbaijan & Central Asia Green Energy Week 2025, Report informs.

According to her, the first phase of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan has already been completed (the construction of a 230-megawatt solar power plant in Garadagh).

"The second phase [the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron wind farm construction project] is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Solar power plants with a total capacity of 760 MW [the 445 MW Bilasuvar and 315 MW Neftachala solar power plants] and the 100 MW Gobustan solar power plant are expected to be commissioned in 2026. The 240 MW Absheron-Garadagh wind farm, the 50 MW UFUQ solar power plant, the 50 MW Shams solar power plant, and the 240 MW Shafag solar power plant are planned to be launched in 2027," Humbatova added.
