Azerbaijan, Hungary explore collaboration in green energy

Azerbaijan and Hungary have discussed issues arising from cooperation in the development and transmission of green energy between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry.

The discussions were held during the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Energy between the governments of Azerbaijan and Hungary in an online format.

The co-chair of the Working Group, Head of the Office at the Ministry of Energy, Zaur Mammadov, highlighted the successful activity of the Working Group in developing energy cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary.

It was emphasized that through mutual discussions and long-term effective cooperation, the energy partnership between the two countries has strengthened further and taken on a strategic character. It was also noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary in the oil and gas sector has turned into a mutually beneficial partnership, and the cooperation between the energy companies of both countries was hailed.

Also, Hungary's participation in the meetings of the Southern Gas Corridor and Green Energy Advisory Councils, Baku Energy Week, and especially its support for energy initiatives put forward by Azerbaijan within the framework of the COP29 event was praised.

The speech also addressed issues arising from cooperation in the development and transmission of green energy between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania, and the importance of the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor project.

The co-chair of the meeting from the Hungarian side, Head of the Energy and Climate Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Izabella Feierabend, stated that energy cooperation between the two countries is successfully developing in various spheres.

She shared her insights on joint projects and infrastructure opportunities implemented in the oil and gas sector, and highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences on green energy and energy regulation, as well as increasing cooperation in the field of energy efficiency.

During the meeting, information was provided on the work done since the 4th meeting of the Working Group, and presentations were heard on cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, renewable energy, energy regulation, and energy efficiency, as well as on implemented projects.

At the end, the parties signed a protocol on the results of the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Energy.
