The second Super Moon event of 2023 was observed on the night of August 30-31, Report informs.
The Moon was at its closest distance to the Earth - at the perigee of its orbit on August 30 at 7:52 pm (GMT+4), and the full moon peaked today at 05:37 am (GMT+4).
The difference between these events was 9 hours and 45 minutes. The distance to the moon at perigee was 357,181 km. Therefore, the Super Moon observed on August 31, 2023, can be called the biggest Super Moon of the year.
The second full moon in one month is also known as a blue moon, like the phrase “once in a blue moon,” according to NASA.
