Copenhagen hosts discussions on future of global climate regime

The Copenhagen Climate Ministerial meeting exchanged views on the future of the international climate regime and the importance of preserving an effective, inclusive and implementation-oriented multilateral process as the world moves deeper into the Paris Agreement implementation era, Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Climate Issues, wrote on X, Report informs.
"COP29 helped advance important outcomes across finance, transparency, Article 6 and implementation support, while continuity between Presidencies will remain essential to maintain momentum ahead of COP31.
The growing importance of ensuring that the climate process remains connected to evolving global realities, national circumstances, and practical implementation challenges countries increasingly face on the ground," reads the post.
Babayev also said that the Copenhagen Climate Ministerial concluded with productive discussions on priorities and expectations for the period ahead of COP31.
"Discussions this week reflected growing recognition that the road toward COP31 will require a stronger focus on practical delivery, resilience, finance and implementation support.
The coming period will be important for translating recent outcomes into concrete progress while maintaining momentum across the global climate agenda and strengthening confidence in multilateral cooperation," he said in another post.
