The outcomes of the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) must carry over into the agenda of COP30, said Csaba Kőrösi, President of the 77th UN General Assembly and former Director of the Hungarian Presidential Administration, on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.
Despite many challenges, Kőrösi described COP29 as a major success and congratulated Azerbaijan and the co-chairs for their efforts.
"COP29 was not just another climate summit. It served as a key driver for sustainable development transformation and provided strong momentum for global progress," he stated.
He emphasized the importance of fulfilling the commitments made at COP29 to ensure continuity and impact.
"It's crucial to carry forward the achievements to COP30 and beyond - identify remaining gaps, discover new opportunities to strengthen the transition, and apply the lessons learned in climate and sustainability. Ultimately, climate action is not just about the atmosphere; it's directly about our societies," Kőrösi concluded.
