There is discrimination against the Azerbaijani language in Iran, Jala Tabrizli, an activist on ethnic issues and women's rights from Tabriz, co-founder of the Erk human rights protection organization, said at the 'Cry of Lake Urmia' event held in Baku.
"After all, we are one nation. The current attitude is to insult us," she said.
According to her, Azerbaijani women, in particular, are oppressed in Iran:
"Women's rights are not recognized in Iran. Azerbaijani women face pressure there. Our children cannot study in their mother tongue," she said.
