25 permanent and 750 seasonal jobs to be created at Dashbulag mulberry orchards

A total of 25 permanent and 750 seasonal jobs will be created at the newly established 13-hectare mulberry orchards in Dashbulag village, located in Azerbaijan's Khojaly district, according to Afat Telmangizi, head of the Public Relations Department at the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service for Khankandi city, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, Report informs.

Speaking during a media tour organized as part of the "In the Footsteps of the President" initiative, she noted that starting next year, efforts will be made to develop sericulture in the Khojaly district:

"To support this, work has begun on establishing a feed base. Around 130,000 saplings imported from China have been planted, and a drip irrigation system has been installed to promote tree growth. Leaf harvests are projected to reach 100 tons in 2026 and 500 tons by 2030. Cocoon production is expected to total 60 tons over the next five years, beginning in 2026."

To further expand the feed base, an additional 150 hectares will be equipped with drip irrigation in October–November this year, and approximately 1.5 million saplings will be planted, she added.

"The orchards are being developed under a cluster model, which includes the construction of silkworm breeding facilities, fresh cocoon production, and the processing of seven different products. The project will employ 25 people permanently and engage 750 in seasonal work."
