Khankandi hosts panel session within Sixth Summer Camp of Azerbaijani Diaspora Youth

A special panel titled “Khankandi” was organized as part of the Sixth Summer Camp of Azerbaijani Diaspora Youth held in Khankandi, Azerbaijan.
According to Report, the panel was moderated by Vasila Vahidgizi, head of department at the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan.
Participants included former MP Flora Gasimova, wife of Azerbaijani National Hero Shirin Mirzayev, Azerbaijani musician Arzu Rzayeva, originally from Khankandi and now residing in Norway, Professor Solmaz Tohidi, and local resident Khatira Valiyeva.
The session featured video footage of President Ilham Aliyev raising the Azerbaijani tricolor in Khankendi, as well as a bilingual presentation (in Azerbaijani and English) on the city’s founding history.
Historical facts about the rich history of Khankandi city, established on ancient Azerbaijani lands, and the existence of original Azerbaijani culture there were presented.
Discussions included the Armenianization of Khankandi and how the restoration of historical justice has transformed the city into a symbol of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Additionally, panel participants from Khankandi shared their memories and the joy of returning to Karabakh after 30 years.
The panel concluded with a Q&A session and camp participants performing patriotic songs. Diaspora youth evaluated the panel as a new platform in terms of topic and format, noting that they experienced both proud and emotional moments throughout the panel.
The Sixth Summer Camp of Azerbaijani Diaspora Youth, held from August 3 to 9, is jointly organized by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. This year’s camp brings together 128 young people from 61 countries. Previous camps have been held in Shaki, Shamakhi, Shusha, Nakhchivan, and Lachin, with more than 700 youth from over 60 countries participating to date.
