Youth must be involved in climate action, says COP29 president

Youth participation is essential in tackling climate issues, Mukhtar Babayev, President of COP29, said during the Youth-Led Climate Forum within the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan consistently calls on countries to develop climate plans: "However, we must not forget to involve young people in drafting these plans. To support this initiative, we are engaged in discussions on education, capacity building, and skills integration."

Babayev also highlighted the establishment of a green education partnership to improve environmental literacy. He praised UNICEF's commitment during COP29 to place children at the center of climate policy by signing the Children, Youth, and Climate Action Declaration.

He added that Azerbaijan will continue to advance its initiatives in this field.
