COP29 releases sustainability report setting new green standards

A Sustainability Report, which establishes new global benchmarks for green climate conferences, has been published following COP29, said Narmin Jarchalova, Chair of the COP29 Operations Board and Chief Executive for Operations, on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

Jarchalova explained that the report highlights the extensive measures taken to make COP29 one of the most sustainable global climate conferences to date. She noted that sustainability principles were integrated at every stage - from planning through implementation to legacy - and that new standards have been set for future host countries.

"During Azerbaijan's COP29 Presidency, we incorporated sustainability principles across all phases, from venue renewable energy use to waste diversion and legacy planning for future hosts. Through these operational practices, we demonstrated that global climate conferences can fulfill their declared promises," she said.

Jarchalova added that this legacy belongs not just to Azerbaijan, but to the entire international climate community. "The COP29 Sustainability Report, which documents achievements and lessons learned, is now published on COP29's official website," she said.
