Azerbaijan prepares workforce for green economy transition

Azerbaijan is taking steps to prepare its workforce for the transition to a green economy, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anar Aliyev said on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.

Aliyev highlighted that alongside international development, the government continues to implement policies aimed at improving social welfare.

"Five major social packages have been implemented so far. In recent years, Azerbaijan has undergone a digital transformation, allowing citizens to access and monitor personal social data. Digitizing labor contracts remains a key priority," he noted.

The minister emphasized that the green economy is not limited to technological advancement-it also directly impacts the labor market.

"Employment programs have been expanded in recent years, and we are now conducting training sessions to equip the workforce for green transition," he added.

Aliyev also noted that under the upcoming "2027–2030 Social-Economic Development Strategy," Azerbaijan will introduce new professional and qualification standards in green jobs. These will include training in fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and drone technologies.
