Samir Sharifov: Azerbaijan interested in establishing joint ventures with Belarus

Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Belarus in developing industrial cooperation, establishing joint ventures (JVs), and localizing production, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov said at the Belarus–Azerbaijan business forum, according to Report's correspondent in Minsk.

"Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite Belarusian businesses to take a closer look at the favorable conditions for operating in the Azerbaijani market, as well as to use the potential of industrial parks and free zones established in Azerbaijan. In our view, the geographic diversification of Belarus"s export destinations could be a very promising direction for our joint economic and trade cooperation," Sharifov said.

He noted that a number of projects are currently being implemented between the two countries in machinery production, agricultural, municipal and special-purpose equipment, elevator manufacturing, and the creation of agro-industrial complexes.

"We are also working on certain projects in the pharmaceutical sector. Azerbaijan is interested in developing industrial cooperation, establishing joint ventures in our country, and localizing production," he added.

Sharifov emphasized that there is also significant potential for entering third-country markets.

"Promising areas also include the production of pharmaceutical products, as well as cooperation in creating agricultural complexes based on Belarusian technologies and experience," he concluded.
