Azerbaijan's National Days kick off in Turkmenistan

Azerbaijan National Days have officially begun in Awaza, Turkmenistan, as part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture told Report.

The events will continue until August 8.

The program showcases Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, and artistic traditions to an international audience. A dedicated Azerbaijan pavilion has been set up at the conference venue, featuring books, brochures, souvenirs, carpets, kelaghayi (traditional silk headscarves), and samples of applied arts reflecting the country’s cultural identity.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore handicrafts that highlight ancient Azerbaijani craftsmanship. An open-air exhibition titled “Pearls of Azerbaijan’s National Heritage” will display carpets from the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, alongside examples of intarsia, stained glass work known as 'Sebeke/Shabaka', jewelry, takalduz (embroidery), and kelaghayi. Master classes in carpet weaving, shabaka art, jewelry making, and kelaghayi preparation will be held throughout the event.

The culinary section will offer traditional Azerbaijani dishes and sweets, providing guests with a taste of the nation’s hospitality and culinary traditions.

A gala concert will be held today as part of the conference’s opening ceremony.

On August 6, a concert program will mark Azerbaijan National Day, and on August 8, a final performance featuring Azerbaijani artists will conclude the festivities.
