The format of friendship, brotherhood, and comprehensive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is considered a unique model of strategic alliance in the international relations system. This interaction, based on the principle of "One nation, two states," also serves as a model of mutual trust and pragmatic partnership.
In this context, the event organized on May 15 in Ankara by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Türkiye on the occasion of Independence Day should be regarded as a manifestation of the close ties between the two countries. However, the significance of the event is not limited to this alone. It has also become another confirmation of Azerbaijan's leading role in the integration processes taking place in the Turkic world.
One of the notable aspects of the event was the wide geographical and ethnic diversity of its participants. The broad representation of prominent public figures of Crimean Tatars, Turkic peoples of Dagestan, Karachay-Balkars, Circassians, Nogai Turks, and Yakuts, as well as well-known public and political figures, representatives of scientific and cultural elites, and heads of influential diaspora organizations, highlights the international importance of the event. The composition of participants also demonstrates that Azerbaijan is not only celebrating its Independence Day, but has also become a spiritual and political center of attraction for various Turkic and other brotherly peoples living across the Eurasian space. This picture is a clear example of Azerbaijan's inclusive policy at the regional level and its course toward solidarity based on historical roots.
Contacts established in such formats not only contribute to bringing peoples closer and strengthening trust but also create a favorable platform for future cooperation. In this regard, the mentioned meetings once again confirm Azerbaijan's unifying role across the broader Turkic geographic space and become an important factor in consolidating peoples around shared values under current geopolitical conditions. Meetings of public figures, scholars, and cultural representatives, by overcoming bureaucratic barriers, build a spiritual bridge based on mutual trust. Such platforms expand opportunities for cooperation based on shared interests while also placing the human factor at the center of processes, ensuring regional stability.
Thus, this dialogue environment formed on the initiative of Azerbaijan, in line with the most progressive trends of modern diplomacy, is already testing a conceptual model of partnership for the future.
The dialogues established within the framework of the event, the statements made, and the exchange of views create real opportunities and lay the foundation for joint projects and other initiatives to be implemented in the future. Such communication is of great importance for systematizing contacts and discussions between different peoples with shared roots and historical heritage.
As noted above, the event was attended not only by representatives of Turkic states but also by representatives of other brotherly peoples. Special attention should be given in this regard to the peoples of the North Caucasus and Crimean Tatars, who have historically faced persecution and deportations. In the context of ongoing global processes, rapid globalization, and complex geopolitical upheavals, for some peoples the preservation of national identity, native language, and historical memory has ceased to be merely a cultural issue and has turned into a struggle for existence. For the mentioned peoples of the North Caucasus and Crimean Tatars, addressing the consequences of historical deportations, threats of assimilation, demographic changes, and the transmission of cultural heritage to future generations is of vital importance. In this regard, placing such sensitive issues on the international agenda acquires exceptional significance.
Being the voice of friendly and brotherly peoples on international platforms, ensuring they are heard by a wider audience, is the highest form of international solidarity.
The event held by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Türkiye demonstrated that Baku, alongside safeguarding its own national interests, also prioritizes the preservation of historical memory and spiritual unity across a wide geographic space in its foreign policy.
Communication in such formats is also important for building systematic and targeted relations between Turkic peoples and communities, humanitarian diplomacy, and strategic communication.
This primarily serves the revival of shared historical and cultural ties, the preservation of national identity, and the promotion of fundamental cultural rights of peoples at the international level.
Azerbaijan's consistent and systematic approach, as a driving force behind many initiatives and cooperation projects in the Turkic world, is of great importance for uniting Turkic countries around a common future and a shared platform.
