Azerbaijan, along with other countries, is strengthening its national contribution to achieving climate goals, Viorel Gutu, FAO regional representative for Europe and Central Asia, said at the Baku Climate Week (BCAW2025), Report informs.
He noted that health, water, and food are key in climate projects, while the transformation of energy systems and the new mechanisms of the Paris Agreement create additional opportunities for countries.
According to him, cooperation with Azerbaijan encompasses the modernization and digitalization of agriculture, laboratory development, projects on biodiversity, improving land fertility, and food security.
Gutu emphasized that inaction will cost more than the costs of transformation, and Azerbaijan's experience confirms the feasibility of a transition to sustainable agrifood systems.
"Europe and other regions must help build more resilient and healthy economies by supporting youth. The achievements we see in Azerbaijan are part of global processes and demonstrate that transformation is possible," Gutu added.
