High-level debates kick off at UN General Assembly

High-level debates have begun at the UN headquarters in New York within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Report, the meeting was opened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres with an introductory speech.
Afterward, this year's President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, will address the gathering. The first speech will then be delivered by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Later, US President Donald Trump will take the podium as the host.
The session, under the theme Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights, will focus particularly on issues such as the Russia-Ukraine war, the situation in Gaza, the Palestine issue, sustainable development goals, and the climate crisis.
The high-level debates will continue until September 30.
