Magdalena Grono: ‘It would be very good for Europeans to see the incredible beauty of Nakhchivan'

Familiarization with Nakhchivan's existing railway infrastructure opens wide prospects for the development of cooperation, Magdalena Grono, the European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus, said, while commenting on the purpose of her visit to Nakhchivan, Report informs.

According to Grono, the meeting with Fuad Najafli, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, held during the visit, was constructive and productive: "I was very satisfied with the meeting because open and sincere discussions on cooperation were held.

We had the opportunity to visit the border areas of Nakhchivan. This is just the beginning of mutual relations, and it is very commendable that this process has started shortly after the Washington meeting. Naturally, railway infrastructure occupies an important place in our agenda. We are ready to contribute to this project by conducting technical compatibility studies."

She added that during the visit, cooperation opportunities in tourism, agriculture, construction, and other areas were also extensively discussed: "My colleagues representing the European Commission are participating in this visit, and we are quite interested in continuing discussions in new contexts."

"Nakhchivan has great tourism potential. I think it would be very good for Europeans to see this incredible beauty," Grono added.
