Turkish team member: Azerbaijan is the favorite in chovgan competitions at 3rd CIS Games

The Azerbaijani national team is considered the favorite in the chovgan competitions at the 3rd CIS Games, Fatih Kosen, a member of Türkiye"s national chovgan team said, following their match against Uzbekistan.

Report's correspondent from Shaki has said Kosen praised the organization of the Games:

"The level of organization in Azerbaijan is high. We have been to Azerbaijan before for various competitions. The successes in hosting truly make us happy. Everything is excellent. We are very glad to be here."

The athlete noted that the match against Uzbekistan was difficult:

"The game was wonderful and, as always, challenging. Chovgan has existed in Türkiye for only two years. We are doing our best and hope to achieve victory in the upcoming matches."

Kosen emphasized that Azerbaijan has a very strong team:

"Chovgan is an ancient Turkic game. It represents an important branch of cultural diplomacy among Turkic peoples, uniting brothers. In Anatolia, during the Ottoman Empire, this game was not played, but later it began to develop again. In Azerbaijan, however, it has always been played. You have a very strong team and players. The favorite of the chovgan competitions is Azerbaijan."

It should be noted that in Group B, Uzbekistan defeated Türkiye 4:0. The chovgan competitions will conclude on October 7.
