Türkiye and Canada to cooperate on sustainable mining

Türkiye and Canada have signed a cooperation protocol in the field of sustainable mining, Report informs via TRT Haber.

The agreement between the Turkish Miners Association (TMD) and the Mining Association of Canada (MAC) aims to support Türkiye"s mining sector in more effectively managing environmental and social risks.

The signing ceremony in Ankara was attended by Arslan Narin, Director General for Mining and Petroleum Affairs at Türkiye"s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources; Mehmet Yılmaz, Chairman of TMD; and Pierre Gratton, President of MAC.

In his remarks, Narin noted that the Towards Sustainable Mining program, which will begin implementation in Türkiye as part of the cooperation, will contribute to the development of sustainable mining standards.

Pierre Gratton, in turn, stated that Canada is currently facing certain challenges and is working to strengthen friendly relations with other countries. He described the partnership with Türkiye as part of those broader efforts.
