Seven dead from counterfeit alcohol poisoning in Russia's Leningrad region

Seven people died due to poisoning from counterfeit alcohol in the Leningrad region, Report informs via the local press.

The incident occurred in the city of Slantsy. Two more individuals have been hospitalized with severe intoxication.

A kindergarten employee has been detained on suspicion of supplying alcohol used in illicit production.

The regional prosecutor's office is investigating the case, and a criminal case has been opened.

In September, a total of 19 people died in Slantsy district after consuming alcohol, with laboratory tests confirming methanol poisoning as the cause in eight cases, according to regional authorities.
