Pezeshkian: No threats can undermine Iran-Iraq relations

No factor or threat will be able to undermine relations between Iran and Iraq, Report informs, citing IRNA.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made the statement during a ceremony receiving the credentials of Iraq's new ambassador to Tehran, Yasser Abdel Zohra al-Hajjaj.

The Iranian president noted that relations between the two countries transcend standard good-neighborliness and are rooted in deep historical, cultural, and religious ties.

He emphasized the need to deepen comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Iraq, strengthen regional integration, and leverage shared potential to ensure peace, security, prosperity, and sustainable development across the region.

Pezeshkian also stated that the region and the Islamic world possess vast opportunities.

"Our region possesses unprecedented human, natural, and economic resources. If the countries of the region, especially Islamic states, expand cooperation and act in accordance with shared interests, they can build a future based on peace, security, prosperity, progress, and sustainable development," he noted.

Iraq's new Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi made his first official visit to the US after taking office, state media noted. He is also expected to visit Iran this week.
