The TRIPP project (Trump Route), involving Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States, has already entered the stage of practical implementation.
Report informs, citing Armenian media, that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during an election campaign.
"You know that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio paid a brief visit to Armenia [on May 26 - ed.] to sign an agreement with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the implementation of the TRIPP project. And this unscheduled visit proves the importance of the project," the prime minister said.
According to him, the event was also of great importance for Armenia's domestic political situation.
Pashinyan noted that the implementation of the route would strengthen Yerevan's role on the international stage, while the White House leadership views the South Caucasus as an important energy transit route connecting East and West.
He also noted the importance of transport routes through Shirak, Lori and Tavush.
"In the near future, we will open the railway not only in the southern direction, but also in the northern direction. We will combine two routes - Ijevan-Hrazdan and Vanadzor-Gyumri - and obtain the shortest railway line. On the other hand, international investors are proposing that we build a new toll road passing through Shirak, Lori and Tavush," he said.
