Pashinyan outlines conditions for referendum on Armenia's exit from EAEU

Armenia will continue its work within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) until the moment comes when a choice between the EAEU and the European Union (EU) becomes inevitable, after which a referendum will be held, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on social media, Report informs via Armenian media outlets.

"We are working in the EAEU and will continue until the time comes when choosing between the EAEU and the EU becomes unavoidable. The decision, of course, must be made by the Armenian people through a referendum," Pashinyan noted.

According to him, the timing of the referendum is of crucial importance: "If Armenia has not officially applied for EU membership or is not close to obtaining candidate status, holding a referendum would be illogical. There would be no justification, no balance formed to offer the people a real choice. Submitting a purely theoretical option to a referendum is neither correct nor reasonable."
