Murad Muradov: Frequent contacts between Baku and Yerevan will accelerate peace process

Frequent exchanges of visits and contacts between Baku and Yerevan could help accelerate the peace process between the two countries, Murad Muradov, Deputy Director of the Topchubashov Center, who is currently in Yerevan, told Sputnik-Armenia.

"I am glad that I was able to visit Armenia. This is a sign that we (Azerbaijan and Armenia) are on the right path. They have positive intentions and a genuine desire to complete this process (peace process - ed.)-the long peace process," Muradov said.

Despite progress on the peace agenda, he noted the presence of a factor slowing the signing of a peace treaty.

"Azerbaijan has long expressed its position. The country is ready to turn the peace treaty from a document into reality. However, this requires a constitutional change in Armenia, specifically the removal of references to potential claims related to Karabakh," the expert noted.

Murad Muradov is participating in the 108th Rose-Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan. He is expected to speak at one of the discussion panels at the event, focusing on the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia as well as regional developments.
