Medvedev threatens Europe with rising gas prices

Russia's Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitri Medvedev has threatened Europe with rising gas prices, Report informs, citing his tweet.

"The German Chancellor has ordered to suspend the certification of the North Stream 2 gas pipeline. Well, then welcome to the new world. In a world where Europeans will soon pay 2,000 euros for 1,000 cubic meters of gas!” the former president wrote.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has ordered the suspension of the certification process for the Nord Stream 2 project of the Russian-German gas pipeline amid the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an address to the nation that Ukraine recognizes the two so-called republics created in the Donbas region. He signed a decree in this regard.

Western countries, including Turkey and Georgia, have condemned Russia's move, saying it violates international law.
