Kazakhstan, US discuss new joint projects

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, in a meeting with US Ambassador to Kazakhstan Julie Stufft, confirmed the intention to strengthen trade‑economic partnership and continue implementing joint projects in priority areas, Report informs, citing the Kazakh government.
The sides discussed the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as interaction in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the space industry.
During the meeting, Bektenov and Stufft reviewed the progress of agreements reached following President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev's visit to the United States, noting that the 29 agreements signed in Washington worth a total of $17 billion have given a strong impetus to expanding bilateral economic relations.
The Prime Minister emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is developing dynamically and is based on a high‑level, sustainable political dialogue that contributes to deepening trade‑economic ties.
According to the Kazakh government, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $3.19 billion in 2025, and $487.4 million in January–February 2026. The US remains one of Kazakhstan's key investors, with more than 600 companies operating in the country with American participation.
The talks also touched upon the implementation of provisions of Kazakhstan's new Constitution. Bektenov stressed that the Basic Law strengthens political stability and creates a solid foundation for the consistent development of the state and society.
