Kavelashvili: South Caucasus should become platform for geopolitical cooperation

The South Caucasus region should not become a testing ground for geopolitical confrontation, but a platform for stability, trade and economic cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and dialogue among civilizations, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili said during his speech at the 16th Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in Tbilisi, Report informs.

He noted that since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the transformation of the international order has accelerated even further, and Georgia has faced several challenges: "It's enough to note that over the past few years, our government has thwarted five externally orchestrated attempts to destabilize the situation in the country, as well as a coup d'état. Despite unprecedented internal and external challenges, we have not only maintained peace but also ensured sustainable economic growth. Our society has been able to critically assess current global events, maintain an objective assessment, and uncompromisingly defend its national interests."
