Iran to begin first phase of Russian gas imports within months

The first phase of Russian gas deliveries to Iran will begin within the next few months, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said, Report informs via Tasnim.

Jalali added that representatives from both countries will meet next week to finalize discussions on gas pricing.

"Next week, officials from Russia's energy sector will travel to Tehran to conclude talks on Russian gas imports. All issues have been resolved except for pricing," the ambassador said.

He also noted that the second and third phases of gas deliveries will require additional infrastructure:

"Russia will provide the necessary investments for its development," Jalali stated.

Russia plans to deliver gas to Iran via a pipeline through Azerbaijan. The planned supply volume is expected to reach up to 1.8 billion cubic meters per year.
