Georgia to establish police force to combat cybercrime

Police units to combat cybercrime will be set up in all major cities of Georgia, Incumbent Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri said during a parliamentary hearing.
According to Report's local bureau, sections will be equipped with special software and hardware: "The country will strengthen the legal framework and deepen operational cooperation with leading European and US agencies to increase the effectiveness of the fight against cybercrime."
This year, 152 cybercriminals have been detained and prosecuted in the neighboring country. The number of illegal acts in this category rose by 24% year-on-year.
