Astana, Ashgabat and Beijing discuss dev't of transport, logistics ties

During a working visit to China, a delegation from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy's (KTZ - state-owned railway company) management visited key logistics facilities, including the Xi'an Dry Port, Xianguojigang Station, and the Kazakhstan terminal at this crucial transport hub, Report informs, referring to the KTZ.

Xi'an is considered the leader in container train shipments, accounting for 46% of the total volume, or over 16,000 TEUs.

KTZ management reviewed the company's operations and discussed prospects for expanding cooperation and new mechanisms for improving freight transportation efficiency.

At the same time, an important meeting was held between KTZ Chairman of the Management Board, Talgat Aldybergenov, and Xi'an Mayor Ye Niuping. During the dialogue, issues of expanding transport and logistics cooperation, increasing freight volumes, and strengthening ties on international routes were discussed.

A quadrilateral meeting between KTZ, Azerbaijani and Georgian Railways, and the Xi'an City Hall was of particular significance. The parties, including representatives of Turkish Railways, reaffirmed their commitment to developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and agreed on joint steps to improve infrastructure, digitalize logistics processes, and coordinate freight flows.

The management of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy also met with the Minister of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan and the Secretary of the Communist Party of China for Jinhua, Zhu Chunlie.

The parties discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing transport and logistics ties, and strengthening transit potential within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Particular attention was paid to joint projects in multimodal transportation and the integration of logistics routes.

Jinhua is an important transport and industrial hub in eastern China, and developing dialogue with its leadership is of strategic importance for KTZ and for Kazakhstan as a whole, as a key transit bridge between China and Europe.

Overall, Xi'an and Jinhua play a key hub in the Eurasian transport corridor, and Kazakhstan, which pioneered the creation of the TITR, continues to actively implement the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan to unlock the country's transit potential, increase freight traffic on the China-Europe-China route, and strengthen regional cooperation.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its status as a reliable transit bridge between East and West by expanding the geography of transportation, opening up new logistics opportunities, and offering competitive routes.
