Dozens feared trapped in Philippines building collapse

Dozens of people are feared trapped beneath the rubble after a nine-story building under construction in a city in the Philippine capital collapsed early Sunday, Report informs via Anadolu.

An estimated 30 to 40 people are feared trapped after the building collapsed during a thunderstorm in Angeles city in Pampanga province in northern Manila, triggering a multi-agency rescue operation, ABS-CBN News reported.​​​​​​​

More than 100 police and other government personnel were scrambling to rescue those believed trapped in the rubble.

According to Angeles City Information Officer Jay Pelayo, while the situation under the debris remains unclear, authorities are aggressively executing a search plan.

At least eight individuals, who sustained minor abrasions, were rescued.

The project foreman and 10 of his construction workers managed to escape the falling rubble unscathed.
