Ukraine supports the proposal for an Easter ceasefire, intends to adhere to it, but will respond in kind in case of violations by the Russian side, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media, according to Report.
"Today we defined the parameters of our response to possible violations of the ceasefire conditions by the Russian army. Ukraine will observe the silence regime and will act strictly in a mirror manner. The absence of Russian strikes in the air, on land and at sea will mean the absence of our responses," he noted.
According to him, information about Ukraine's mirror-response approach and the possible extension of the ceasefire beyond Easter was conveyed to the Russian side.
Zelenskyy added that he discussed with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi the procedures for Ukrainian units under ceasefire conditions, emphasizing that the Armed Forces are ready for any developments on the front line.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced on April 9 that Russia would introduce an Easter ceasefire from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of April 12, 2026.
Zelenskyy announced a ceasefire along the front line on April 10 in connection with Easter.
