Zelenskyy: Trump's deadline for Russia expires on Monday

Ukraine is expecting "strong steps" from the United States toward Russia, as the deadline for agreeing to a bilateral meeting expires next Monday, while the Kremlin has been slow to engage in dialogue, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, Report informs via RBC Ukraine.

"Each of us must be responsible for what we say and what we are ready for… We are waiting for some strong steps from the US toward Russia, because they proposed it to us and we agreed. But Russia has not yet agreed," he noted.

Zelenskyy added that on Monday, September 1, the "two to three weeks" set by US President Donald Trump as a deadline for Russia to decide on a bilateral or trilateral meeting will expire.

"Two weeks will already be up on Monday, and we will remind everyone of this," the president stressed.

In his view, Russia's war against Ukraine will end one way or another: "The war will still end; Putin has nowhere to go," he said.

The head of state reminded that there are two possible outcomes to the war - military or diplomatic. At the same time, he emphasized that a diplomatic resolution to Russia's war against Ukraine would be faster.

According to him, it is now clear that Russia will not be able to fully occupy all of Ukraine, and Ukraine, in turn, will not be able to regain all its territories solely by force.
