Trump gives UK King replica of historic sword

Donald Trump gave the UK King a replica of President Eisenhower's sword as part of a gift exchange to mark the beginning of his second state visit, Report informs via The Telegraph.

The president and first lady were greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales after touching down in Windsor on Wednesday.

Trump and his wife, Melania, were treated to a day of pomp and pageantry by the extended Royal family at Windsor Castle, which included a military parade, flypast and state banquet.

To mark the occasion, the president and first lady gave the King a replica of Eisenhower's sword.

The gift is said to symbolise "the profound respect and act as a reminder of the historical partnership that was critical to winning World War Two", as well as the enduring values and cooperative spirit that continue to define the relationship between the two nations.

The president and first lady also gave the Queen a Tiffany & Co vintage 18-carat gold, diamond and ruby flower brooch, which is said to "honour the idea of diplomacy; conveying messages of friendship, respect and a commemoration of this historic visit."

The brooch incorporates both the Queen's birthstone (rubies) and the first lady's birthstone (diamonds).

In return, the Royal family presented the president with the Union flag that flew above Buckingham Palace on the day of his inauguration earlier this year.

Trump also received a bespoke, hand-bound leather volume specially crafted by the Royal Bindery in Windsor Castle to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The Royal family gave Mrs Trump a personalised Anya Hindmarch handbag, as well as a silver and enamel bowl, crafted using traditional silversmithing techniques by Cara Murphy, a Northern Irish artist, and featuring Her Majesty's cypher.

The president and first lady also received a silver photograph frame engraved with Their Majesties' joint cypher.
