Thailand reports first death from Omicron coronavirus variant

Thailand recorted two deaths from the highly transmissible Omicron coronavirus variant, said Deputy Foreign Ministry Spokesman Natapanu Nopakun.
An 86-year-old woman who was bedridden and suffering from Alzheimer's disease died on January 12, and an 84-year-old woman with lung cancer died on January 15.
The country registered the first Covid case on January 13, 2020, and 2.33 million people have contracted so far, of which 21.9 thousand died. At present, 47.5 million of the 70 million people have been fully vaccinated.
