Taiwan reports 78 typhoon casualties

Taiwanese authorities have reported 78 injured as a result of Typhoon Haikui hitting the island, Report informs referring to TASS.
The biggest number of injuries due to bad weather was recorded in the areas that received the main blow of the typhoon in the south of the island - in the city of Kaohsiung (where 23 people sought medical help) and Taitung County (20 victims).
Rescuers evacuated 7,100 people from the mountainous area, from the coast and from other dangerous areas. In total, 95 temporary shelters have been deployed on the island, where people can wait out the bad weather. Currently, there are 1,900 people in them.
About 57,900 households in Taiwan remain without electricity due to damage to power lines and other infrastructure. In total, 217,400 households faced power outages to some extent, but at present, the supply of electricity to most of them has been restored. Another 12,900 houses were left without water supply.
