Six countries call for summit on humanity in armed conflicts next year

The leaders of Kazakhstan, Brazil, Jordan, China, France, and South Africa have announced plans to convene a high-level summit in 2026 dedicated to the protection of humanity during times of war, Report informs, citing Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The joint statement was issued in New York during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
"The heads of state expressed concern over violations of international humanitarian law in conflicts around the world. They urged all governments and parties to armed conflicts to respect international humanitarian norms-particularly those safeguarding civilians, civilian infrastructure, and medical and humanitarian personnel," the statement read.
