The results of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku will set the direction for global climate action, Anaclaudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said at a final press conference as part of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
She noted that housing and cities will remain at the forefront of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, and the New Urban Agenda.
"We will maintain the momentum until the next session (WUF14 in Mexico in 2028 – ed.). It's clear in Baku: solutions, knowledge, and commitment exist. The main challenge today is not to set the agenda, but to implement it and place housing at the center of human dignity and sustainable development," Rossbach said.
She also emphasized that WUF13 strengthened the global coalition for urban transformation.
"We leave Baku with renewed resolve, stronger partnerships, and a sense of shared responsibility. We will carry this momentum forward to the next session of WUF14 in Mexico City in 2028," added the head of UN-Habitat.
